One of the best things that happened to me in 2025 was that one of you clever readers, encouraged by this list, nabbed a vanity license plate reading UNGUENT. The reader reported that their UNGUENT plate led to some unexpected positive exchanges. The amount of happiness this brings me is: A Lot.

At a time when things are falling apart and gyres are widening and people are recklessly citing Yeats, one way to remain human is to abet mischief in tiny ways.
